We offer a well equipped art room and during a session will add extra enhancements like play-dough , gloop, corn flower and water messy but great fun , painting  glueing and sticking and can add other activities to spike  children’s interest ,we all sit together to eat our snacks and lunches and the children are encouraged to get their food from their own lunch boxes and make good choices , we also encourage them to open their own yogurts and peel their own fruit and  after lunch children are encouraged to clear their rubbish way  all the things school like to see a child do ,Each child has their own peg and we encourage them to self register getting them school ready. We offer a home link library, where the children can select their own book that interests them from the setting, returning the book and taking another. We work closely with all our intake schools for a smooth transition for all of our children attending ‘big school’.

We then have a large play room which offers a role play area , a quiet area for any child who may want a little rest time, a construction area which is always a popular area , a writing area and excitingly a clear space which the children love to dance and show off their moves in .

To the outside we have a large rear garden which the children have access to a digging area , a mud kitchen , a writing area and at present we are working on a herb garden so the children can help us to grown and use in our cooking activities that we endever to do weekly.

Karla – Skylark Preschool Deputy Manager

Karla Testa Skylark Preschool

I have always been passionate about working with children since I left secondary school in 2011. I started my training in childcare in 2011 and qualified in 2013. I have worked for Naval Under Fives since. Across the organisation I have worked in all the settings in the Gosport area, developing my knowledge always. I undertake training courses to keep myself update with all the changes to the childcare sector. I now have the privilege of being a deputy manager of a preschool and I love every moment.
